About The University of Manila
The University of Manila (UM) is a higher education institution founded in 1913 as the Instituto de Manila by Dr. Mariano V. de los Santos and three other founders. It was established to promote Philippine nationalism and culture through an educational system aimed at developing the best qualities in Filipinos. The university operates on the guiding principles of Patria, Scientia et Virtus (Country, Science, and Virtue), emphasizing academic excellence and personal integrity. UM welcomes both new and returning students each school year, preparing them for college life's challenges. The institution encourages students to define clear goals, maintain a positive outlook, and remain true to themselves as keys to success. Currently led by President Dr. Emily Dodson de Leon, UM continues its tradition of providing quality education rooted in Filipino values.
