About SOPHIA SCHOOL
Sophia School Meycauayan is an educational institution founded in January 1995 by husband-and-wife team Lorenzo Abacan, a psychologist-educator, and Marie Ann Regoso-Abacan, a nutritionist-educator. The school's name derives from the Greek word 'sofia,' meaning wisdom. It began operations in June 1995 with 30 students in pre-school and grade school departments, initially located in a three-classroom facility on Abacan Street, Barangay Calvario, Meycauayan City, Bulacan. The school has since expanded, with its pre-school, grade school, and junior high school departments now housed in a four-story building on Dazo Street in the same barangay, while the senior high school department occupies the original Abacan Street compound. The institution is accredited by the Department of Education (DepEd), with recognition granted for pre-school in April 1997, grade school in June 2000, high school in March 2005, and senior high school in 2016. Sophia School emphasizes a holistic educational approach, aiming to develop students as 'whole leaders of change' through a curriculum focused on intellectual competence, physical health, psycho-social well-being, spiritual grounding, and action-driven learning, preparing them for leadership roles in society.
