About Goethe-Institut Philippinen
The Goethe-Institut is a globally operating cultural institute focused on promoting the German language, culture, and international cultural exchange. It operates 154 institutes across 100 countries, with 12 located within Germany itself. Founded in 1952 with its first institute in Athens, the organization employs approximately 4,394 staff members worldwide. Its core mission revolves around fostering diversity, mutual understanding, and trust through cultural dialogue. Key activities include offering German language courses and standardized proficiency exams (A1–C2 levels) in over 90 countries, both in-person and online. In 2024, it administered about 1.1 million German language exams globally. The institute also engages in extensive cultural promotion, supporting artistic residencies, funding book translations, and organizing thousands of cultural events annually, which attracted around 6.6 million attendees in a recent year. It develops specialized educational materials, such as the 'Boto-Bande' for children aged 3–11, and runs initiatives like 'Ecological Futures' addressing socio-ecological challenges and 'Goethe-Institut im Exil' supporting exiled artists. The institute plays a significant role in integration support for migrants heading to Germany.
