About St. Michael's College
St. Michael's College of Iligan Inc. (SMCII) is an educational institution that offers academic programs with a global perspective, as indicated by its 'Start your global journey, with us!' tagline. The college emphasizes sustainability and community engagement through various initiatives. A notable project is Franklin Clitar's eco-brick initiative, started in 2018, which has evolved into a youth-led movement promoting ecological integrity and the principles of Laudato Si'. This project, supported by the Diocese and local barangays, has produced thousands of eco-bricks and is integrated into the school curriculum, empowering students to participate in sustainability efforts. The institution also conducts outreach programs, such as the annual 'Sandayong sa Gugma' (Bag of Love), which provides assistance to those in need, including students affected by COVID-19. Additionally, SMCII engages in environmental activities like mangrove planting in areas like Bayug Island, aimed at restoration after natural disasters. The college has achieved PAASCU (Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities) accreditation, indicating quality standards. It fosters interfaith dialogue through events like its first Islamic Seminar series, aligning with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) related to education, reduced inequalities, peace, and partnerships. The institution's focus extends to nurturing young minds through programs that combine positive reinforcement, wellness, and community service, facilitated by departments like the College of Arts and Sciences–Psychology Program.
