San Jose Academy

San Jose Academy (SnJA) is an educational institution founded on January 23, 1970, under the leadership of Msgr. Jose A. Mirasol, with support from parishioners and the Maryknoll Sisters. It began as a kindergarten in June 1970, operating from a convent with teachers from St. James Academy. As enrollment grew, the school expanded its facilities and obtained government permits to operate preschool and grade school departments. By March 1977, it held its first graduation and later gained approval to offer secondary education, appointing Mrs. Virginia Roldan and Ms. Lucila dela Vega as principals. The academy has a strong outreach program, providing education to public schools in Navotas and free vocational and evening high school classes for underprivileged youth. Leadership transitions over the years, including directors like Msgr. Pacifico Ma. Mendoza, Fr. Lorenzo J. Egos, Msgr. Severino Casas, and Msgr. Celso Ditan, brought periods of growth and challenges such as financial constraints and declining enrollment. In 1991, Rev. Fr. Rolando dela Cruz initiated improvements to facilities and educational offerings. Subsequent directors, including Msgr. Jose Norriel B. Bandojo and Rev. Fr. Sanny de Claro, focused on faculty development, technology integration, and spiritual enrichment. The school continues to operate under the direction of Rev. Fr. Jeronimo Ma. J. Cruz and principal Mr. Rafael Patrick M. Pecjo, emphasizing a legacy of excellence and community engagement, with recent activities including summative assessments for the 2025-2026 school year.
